Workshop topic:

Gait and Movement Analysis in Scoliosis: Uncovering Subtle Patterns for Designing Optimal Intervention

Description:

This workshop delves into the essential principles of movement and gait analysis in patients withscoliosis, emphasising the critical role of posture in overall mobility. Participants will learn how subtlevariations in gait can reveal underlying postural issues, directly informing effective orthotic andexercise interventions. Drawing on years of expertise, three of our speakers will share practical tipsand hands-on strategies for identifying key movement indicators, ensuring clinicians can enhancetheir assessment techniques and ultimately improve patient care.

Description:

In recent times, our comprehension of the origins of idiopathic scoliosis has considerably advanced. It has been determined that corrective exercises specifically targeting the curvature are unnecessary for cases where scoliosis measures less than 25°. Contemporary research in scoliogeny highlights that deviations in the vertebra and thoracic region are not primary issues but rather secondary. A holistic and systemic methodology within scoliogeny suggests that a delay exists in the maturation of the extrapyramidal postural system. The Lyon Method's balance exercises are designed to realign and synchronize this postural system. These exercises will be tailored to align with the varying maturity stages of the extrapyramidal system.
