Neuromuscular diseases are a group of disorders resulting from damage to the nerve cells of the spinal cord, peripheral nerve fibers, or the muscles themselves. Characteristic clinical symptoms include muscle weakness, limited range of motion in the joints, progressive deformities of the musculoskeletal system – including scoliosis – and respiratory disturbances due to weakness of the respiratory muscles. These symptoms lead to significant functional limitations and affect the quality of life of patients.
During the workshop, participants will be introduced to the basic principles and guidelines of the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) concept. Special emphasis will be placed on the practical use of therapeutic patterns and techniques when working with patients with neuromuscular diseases.
The workshop will include case analysis and a practical demonstration of the application of selected PNF patterns and techniques in functional positions – lying, sitting, and standing – depending on the patient's abilities. Participants will learn how to tailor therapy to the individual needs of the patient.
